ALEXA

Eco and Alexa:

• Amazon Echo is one of a range of hands-free speakers and devices that can be controlled with one’s voice.
  
  
• The voice-controlled Amazon "personal assistant" on these devices is called Alexa, who will perform various tasks for you and control various systems. In short, Alexa is a voice enabled platform led by artificial intelligence.
  
  
• As well as being available on Echo devices, Alexa is now becoming available on a lot of third-party devices plus the Alexa app on Android phones.
  
  

Working of Alexa:

• When a person speaks to Alexa, a recording of what one asked Alexa is sent to Amazon's cloud which is processed and responded to request. Alexa updates through the cloud automatically and learns all the time.
  
  
• Alexa is able to play music, provide information, deliver news and sports scores, tell you the weather, control your smarthome and even allow Prime members to order products they've ordered before.
  
  

AIR Streaming Services on Alexa:

• 17 channels of All India Radio (AIR), including Vividh Bharati, FM Gold, FM Rainbow and North eastern Services are being live streamed on Alexa.
  
  
• Benefits: By this, All India Radio (AIR) will get an additional platform for global and domestic audiences. Indian Diaspora around the world will benefit from this initiative by listening to the programmes in All India Radio.
