• Ashadhi Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day (Ekadashi) of the bright fortnight (Shukla paksha) of the Hindu month of Ashadha (June - July).
  
  
• This holy day is of special significance to Vaishnavas, followers of Lord Vishnu.
  
  
• Ashadhi Ekadashi is one of the most significant festivals in Maharashtra.
  
  
• It also marks the culmination of the pilgrimage undertaken by the Warkaris (devotees of Lord Vitthal) from different parts of the state on their feet to travel hundreds of kilometres to reach temple town Pandharpur in Solapur district.
