Astra, the indigenously developed Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM), was successfully test fired by the Indian Air Force from Su-30 aircraft, as a part of the series of final pre-induction trials.

Astra is an active radar homing (ARH) beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM).
It has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Range: It is capable of engaging targets at varying range i.e. short-range targets (up to 20 km) as well as long-range targets (up to 80–110 km).
It is the first indigenous air-to-air BVR missile.
