Air-to-Air missile, ASTRA, has been successfully flight tested off the coast of Odisha. The missile was launched from Su-30 MKI as a part of User trials.
About:
Astra is an active radar homing (ARH) beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM).
It has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
It is capable of engaging targets at varying range i.e. short-range targets (up to 20 km) as well as long-range targets (up to 80–110 km).
It is the first indigenous air-to-air BVR missile.
