• The Prime Minister noted that this is the first time that the India Carpet Expo is being organized at the Deendayal Hastkala Sankul, in Varanasi.

  Deendayal Hastkala Sankul? ·         It is a trade facilitation centre for handicrafts. ·         Timeline: The project was first announced by the Union Finance Minister in the Budget 2014-15. In 2017, PM Modi inaugurated Deendayal Hastkala Sankul in Varanasi. ·         Objective: To facilitate the weavers/artisans/exporters in promotion of handlooms/handicrafts in both domestic and international markets. ·         It consists of five blocks: Marts-cum-Office, Convention hall-cum-Exhibition, Food court-cum-Guest House, Shopping Arcade and Crafts Museum. ·         The Crafts Museum in the Sankul will preserve the traditional handloom/handicrafts products of Varanasi.
