Chief of the Army Staff Bipin Rawat announced that the Army would induct women Jawans in the Corps of Military Police (CMP), and further scope of recruiting women in Army posts would be explored thereafter.

Corps Of Military Police (CMP) is the military police of the Indian Army.
Their key task is Policing the Cantonments and Army Establishments. It is also trained to handle prisoners of war, regulate traffic and handle basic telecommunication equipment such as telephone exchanges.
They can be identified by their red berets and white belts. They also wear a black brassard with the letters MP imprinted in red.
The First section of Indian Corps of Military Police was raised in 1939 during the World War 2.
