Telangana became the first State in the country to have a live electronic exchange of data between the courts and the police.

About:

  • Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) chairman and Supreme Court Judge Justice Madan B. Lokur launched the system for live electronic exchange of data between the courts and the police in Telangana.

  • The project was started on a pilot basis in Subedari police station of Warangal Commissionerate.

  • Under it, FIR and charge-sheet can be transferred electronically in real time. The court can issue the receipt with the reference number online.

  • Significance: Convergence of information between police, courts, prisons, forensics and prosecutions will eventually speed up the process of criminal justice system. The status of each case and its monitoring becomes easier for the police and judicial officers.
