Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa won the presidential election, the first vote since the fall of long-time leader Robert Mugabe.

About:

  • Emmerson Mnangagwa is a Zimbabwean politician serving as the current President of Zimbabwe.

  • He is nicknamed "the crocodile" for his political shrewdness.

  • He was a long-time ally of his predecessor Robert Mugabe and a senior member of the ruling ZANU–PF party.

  • In November 2017 he launched a coup d'état to end Mugabe's tenure and became the third president of Zimbabwe.
