ENHANCED PAY SCALE FOR JUDICIAL OFFICERS

• A bench comprising Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justices Krishna Murari, and Hima Kohli also directed the Center and the States to pay the arrears to the officers in three instalments 25% in three months, another 25% in next three months, and the balance by June 30, 2023.
• Several states have been dragging their feet over implementation of the recommendations citing resource crunch.
• The second judicial pay panel was set up by the apex court in 2017 for reviewing the pay scale and other conditions of judicial officers in the country.
