GLOBAL CENTRE FOR NUCLEAR ENERGY PARTNERSHIP (GCNEP)

The Minister of State in Ministry of Personnel, and in the Prime Minister’s Office, informed Lok Sabha about the Status of Work in Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP).

About:

  • Timeline:
    • Government of India approved the establishment of GCNEP in 2010.

    • Phase–I of the GCNEP project has been completed.30th September 2020 is the date of Phase –II of the project.



  • Location: At village Jasaur Kheri & Kheri Jasaur, near Bahadurgarh, District Jhajjar, Haryana.

  • Parent agency: GCNEP is the sixth R&D unit under the aegis of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

  • Objectives: GCNEP will help in capacity building, in association with the interested countries and the IAEA, involving technology, human resource development, education & training and giving a momentum to R&D in Nuclear Energy.

  • Schools: The centre will house following 5 schools to carry out its objectives –
    • School of Advanced Nuclear Energy System Studies (SANESS)

    • School of Nuclear Security Studies (SNSS)

    • School on Radiological Safety Studies (SRSS)

    • School of Nuclear Material Characterization Studies (SNMCS)

    • School for Studies on Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation Technologies (SARRT).
