Native species |

Exotic species |
Any species not native to that habitat; also known as alien species. |
Invasive species |
An exotic species whose introduction into an ecosystem successfully out-compete native organisms and harms ecosystems. Common characteristics are: · Rapid reproduction and growth, · High dispersal ability, · Phenotypic plasticity (ability to adapt physiologically to new conditions) Note: Not all exotic species are invasive. |
