According to analysis of Data provided by Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the number of fatalities in the last 10 years was highest in 2018.
Key Findings:
In the last 10 years, the number of fatalities (of civilians, security personnel and terrorists) in Jammu & Kashmir was highest in 2018 and the number of incidents of Violence was among the highest.
From 2006 to 2012, there was a steady decline in Violence. But since then the violence is on rise esp. since 2016 when Hizbul Mujahideen Militant Burhan Wani was killed. The protests that followed led to sustained unrest and widespread violence in the Valley.
Kupwara, Pulwana and Baramulla districts have registered the highest number of fatalities due to violence in the last three years.
