Delay in the grant of Revised Administrative Approval to an incomplete hydroelectric project in Maharashtra, on which an expenditure of ₹250.03 crore has been incurred, resulted in the funds being lying blocked for more than six years, said the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India on Compliance Audit.

The Water Resources Department (WRD) of the Maharashtra government accorded (February 2004) Administrative Approval (AA) of ₹379.78 crore for the construction of 2×40 Mega Watt (MW) hydroelectric project at Koyna Dam Foot on the left bank of the Koyna Dam.
The report added that the delay in granting Revised AA to the incomplete project, on which an expenditure of ₹250.03 crore had been incurred, resulted in blockage of funds from March 2015.
Further, the change in power generation method would result in wasteful expenditure of ₹83.53 crore incurred on works already executed.
