- It is a major river in Lebanon.
- Origin: It rises in a low divides west of Baalbek and flowing southwestward through the Bekaa valley between the Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon mountains.

- Dams: El Wauroun Dam, Qaraoun Dam, or Albert Naqash Dam
