Union Health Ministry is working on a project for mainstreaming persons with mental illness, who no longer require hospital care.
About:
Name of Project:
The project is titled
‘National strategy for inclusive and community-based living for persons with mental health issues’.
Objective:
Mainstreaming persons with mental illness, who no longer require hospital care for their inclusion and community-based living.
There have been instances where Mentally-ill patients are abandoned by their families after they are admitted to mental health hospitals.
Bodies involved: National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS)
is coordinating the project in 14 hospitals.
