Union Cabinet has approved the New Railway Line between Bahraich and Khalilabad, Uttar Pradesh. The approved line will pass through the district Shravasti (Bhinga), an important tourist place closely associated with Buddhism and Jainism.

About:

Shravasti district is one of the districts of the Uttar Pradesh, located near the West Rapti River.
Bhinga town is district headquarters.

Cultural significance:

Buddhism: District Shravasti is closely associated with the life of Gautam Buddha who spent the greater part of his monastic life in Shravasti. He is believed to have spent 24 Chaturmases here.
Jainism: Shravasti is also an important tourist centre for Jains as the Sobhanath temple is believed to be the birthplace of the Tirthankara Sambhavanath.
