An 82-member Special Rhino Protection Force (SRPF) has been deployed in the Kaziranga National Park (KNP).
About:
The SRPF personnel will be posted under eight ranges of Kaziranga National Park (KNP) to control rhino poaching as well as tiger poaching since Kaziranga is also a tiger reserve.
The Assam government would be paying the salaries of the SRPF members and the amount would be reimbursed by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), which recommended setting up of the special force.
