START-UP VILLAGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (SVEP)

Union Minister of State for Rural Development informed Lok Sabha about the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP).

About:

  • Parent scheme: SVEP is a sub-scheme under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).

  • Objective: To help rural households including women to set-up enterprises.

  • Features:
    • Skill building support is provided to all the entrepreneurs supported under SVEP through Community Resource Persons for Enterprise Promotion (CRP-EP).

    • The entrepreneurs have the freedom to identify the sectors in which they want to start businesses based on assessment of market potential.



  • Background:
    • The scheme was approved during 2015-16 and the enterprise formation started in 2017-18.

    • As on 30th November 2018, a total of 30,352 enterprises were formed across 20 States where the scheme is operational.
