According to a study published, on the occassion of world sparrow day, in International Studies on Sparrows on the nesting habits of the house sparrow in the Nilgiris, house sparrow prefer nests in market areas because of the availability of food.

Bodies involved: It is an international initiative by the Nature Forever Society of India (NFSI) in collaboration with other national and international organisations. NFSI is a non-profit organisation, established in 2005 to conserve house sparrows.
