Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana was launched by the Rajasthan Government on 1 June 2016 to promote the health, education and welfare of girls. It provides financial assistance at key stages of a girl child’s life, from birth to completion of Class 12, with the aim of reducing gender discrimination and improving educational outcomes.

Objectives of Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana

• Promote girls’ education by encouraging school enrolment and continued education.
• Improve maternal and child health by supporting institutional births and timely immunisation.
• Reduce gender discrimination and improve the social status of girls.
• Address child mortality and sex-ratio concerns through greater awareness and support for girl children.

Financial Benefits under Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana

Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana provided financial assistance of up to ₹50,000 in six installments.

The installments are linked to health and education milestones to encourage families to support girls’ development throughout childhood and adolescence.

Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana Eligibility Criteria

The principal eligibility conditions under Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana included the following:

• Residence: The beneficiary’s mother must meet the applicable Rajasthan residence requirements.
• Date of birth: The girl child must have been born on or after 1 June 2016.
• Institutional delivery: The birth must take place in a government medical institution or an eligible private medical institution authorised under the applicable Janani Suraksha Yojana provisions.
• Family limit: The first two instalments were not subject to the same two-child restriction that generally applied to later instalments. Subsequent benefits were ordinarily limited to a maximum of two living children, subject to applicable exceptions.
• Educational milestones: Benefits linked to school admission and completion were subject to the prescribed school and eligibility conditions.

Beneficiaries must satisfy the applicable requirements for each instalment. The conditions and documentation may differ depending on the stage at which assistance is claimed.

Application Process and Implementation

The scheme involved coordination among the Rajasthan departments responsible for health, women and child development, and education.

• Initial installments: Birth, immunisation and maternal-child health records were used to verify eligibility. The first two installments were generally processed through the health system, without a separate application in the usual cases.
• School-stage instalments: Later benefits required verification of school admission or educational milestones and submission of the prescribed documents.
• Local-level support: Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Anganwadi workers helped facilitate awareness, record maintenance and beneficiary identification.
• Disbursement: Financial assistance was transferred through the prescribed payment process after verification of eligibility and records.

Current Status and Updates

The Rajasthan Government introduced Lado Protsahan Yojana from 1 August 2024 to expand financial assistance for girls. Under its revised framework, eligible beneficiaries can receive assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh in seven installments.

The Lado scheme incorporates Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana. Eligible beneficiaries who were already covered under Rajshri can receive their remaining instalments under the applicable Lado framework, subject to the revised eligibility conditions. The final instalment under Lado is linked to the prescribed graduation milestone and completion of 21 years of age.

Therefore, the ₹50,000 in six instalments refers to the original Rajshri scheme structure, while the ₹1.5 lakh assistance applies to the expanded Lado framework. These amounts should not be presented as two separate benefits payable cumulatively to the same beneficiary.
