3. India should be made a republic with the condition that she will join the Commonwealth
4. India should be given Dominion status

Answer (Detailed Solution Below)

Option 4: India should be given Dominion status

Detailed Solution

Explanation:

Cripps Mission, under Sir Stafford Crips was sent to India in 1942, in order to get the support of India in World War II.
It recommended for:
- A constituent assembly to be convened to frame a new constitution.
- Any province not willing to join the Union could have a separate constitution and form a separate Union.
- An Indian Dominion that will be free to decide its relations with the commonwealth and United Nations.
The proposal of India being granted complete independence, with the partition formula, was given by Lord Mountbatten in 1947.
There was no proposal that stated India should be made a republic with the condition that she will join the Commonwealth.

Therefore, option (4) is the correct answer.
